Drop Zulu, there are people who start headlong without reading the entire post before starting.Everything is clear, everything is explained, if it stops somewhere, it is that you did not follow the procedure to the letter. Many people forget the fastboot -w.The only time I had an error with a friend: FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error)), it was the USB cable that bugged. It's impossible to 'brick' the shield with the FULL ANDROID procedure.Zulu, you did an amazing job. With the firmware 1.5, we broke the head and I first by mail to try to find solutions regarding things we have with stock firmware. Now everything works! Even the old controller in wifi, the microphone works. There are still a few days, it missed the parameters. No problem, with the 1.1 you have it.I do not see what it allows you to be so arrogant to this beautiful work.Sometimes, just say thank you.Sorry, I just post it, but I'm on the forum in stealth mode but when I see some comments. I'm forced to write. Things have been written 10000 times! Just do a search.

Zulu99 wrote:On SATV 2017, The first message ( your device is corrupt ) is normal, is a message that Google added some time ago when you unlock the bootloader. Is just a stupid image / message to scare people.

It is present also on many new phones. It just indicates that your device, now, can run also firmwares not signed by the manufacturer. The message show always when you boot, but the boot continue and the firmware start. You have this message also if you only unlock the bootloader without install nothing.Hi zulu99, thanks for the reply. The issue I am having is that I get the orange warning first saying 'Your device software can't be checked for corruption' but shortly after I get a red one saying 'Your device is corrupt' and afterwards just a black screen until I unplug. One more thing I should mention is that I am trying to flash after I received the official nVidia update to 5.0.1. Does this make any difference as apposed to flashing with the shipping firmware 5.0? I just realized that their is a 5.0 recovery image from nVidia.

Perhaps I should try to flash that and then try the full android flash again? Many thanks again for all your hard work!I flashed my 2017 model with the last update installed. You can do what you want, there is no differences.make sure that you unlocked the bootloader before the procedure.make sure that you used fastboot -w after the installation of system and vendor image.usually i install also root before start the firmware for the first time, try also this.install system, vendor, fastboot -w, start twrp, flash SupersU, restart the device.supersu remove from the boot image also the verification of partitions, this can help.Success! Thanks for the tip about SuperSU! Although I intended to root after I flashed, I did not realize how critical (required) SuperSU was to get the flash to become successful & boot. This was the missing piece of info needed. Thanks again!

Now time to configure & play. Avguy25 wrote:Im in desperate need of some help. I have a first generation (2015) shield 16gb. Have used many of your roms over the last couple years and have always been succesful at it. Thanks for the awesome work Zulu99. Anyhow i wanted to upgrade to the nougat full android so followed the instructtions reloaded factory image to 3.xx and then let the shield update itself to the new 5.xx.

All was great until this point. I rebooted into bootloader and sent the system img to it and it started to write it then rebooted to the nvidia screen and hangs there. I can get back to bootloader manually (hardware way) but as soon as i try to write anything to the box it reboots to the nvidia screen. Tried flashing original 3.xx and new 5.xx and nothing will flash just reboots. PLEASE Help i love my shield and dont want to buy a new one as i like my sd card slot for memory expansionReading better your post, the second one, you installed the firmware of 2017 model in your 2015 model. This is normal? I don't have words. From your second post:E:nv-recovery-image-shield-atv-2017-5.0.1nv-recovery-image-shield-atv-5.0.1fastboot flash boot boot.imgTo solve, you should try to install the OTA of 2015 model via TWRP.

I just noticed two small things, not too big, but it would be great if you had any ideas. It might be just me, not sure.1) On the 2017 shield 16Gb i tried plugging in headphones into the new bluetooth controller, but there's no sound from the headphones? If I unplug them, it goes back to sound from tv ok. Sometimes i like watching videos late at night and listen through headphones connected to the controller so I don't bother roommates, so it would be handy to get it working again2) Also in general the volume is a bit lower than stock nvidia image. Before, with stock image, I could have my soundbar at medium volume and could still hear pretty loud and just control andorid volume from remote/controller. Now, with soundbar at full volume and android also at full volume, total volume coiming out is ok if there are no other sounds outside. I can't make it any louder like I could before.

Battle rock all good things download. Is this normal for ful android? Should I install a sound booster app?Aside from thos small things, the image is awesome!

All apps and games I tried have been working great!I'm testing right now the audio on the controllers and on the 2015 model the private audio of both controllers works well.I found also that default audio for hangouts and facebook messenger is routed to the private audio of the old controller, on the new controller no.This firmware should have the exact behavious of the stock firmware for all things. This time i changed only some things related to graphic UI.I will test on 2017 model if the private audio of the new controller works.P.S.Also on the 2017 model the private audio of the two controllers works well. On both controllers. Now i understand why the audio of facebook messenger and hangout not route to HDMI, Nvidia added a spacial policy that route this audio to the old controller audio.Fortunately blocking the android.permissions.MODIFYAUDIOSETTINGS in this apps, the voice / video calls can route also to HDMI. For me:WORKS (but LOW 'real volume' when android volume is max):notifications / system sounds like toggling settings or up/down in settings menuDOESN'T WORK:- apps- No music from pandora, youtube- No game music / soundsI tried going to Settings - Bluetooth and disabling the controller for 'media', and re enabling it, and still nothing.TIP: by mistake i turned off bluetooth so couldn't control the shield. In case any one else makes the same mistake for some reason (and no wired mouse/keyboard), bluetooth can be re-enabled (on rooted devices) with:adb shellsuservice call bluetoothmanager 6.

The reason there are problems with google services is because they are so invasive and don't allow for a lot of compatibility, always downloading updates, always putting new obscure services that collect data, and even stranger ways of doing this. Of course chinese brands wouldn't welcome the imperialistic big brother into their everyday tech without some sort of resistance. But let's not forget that Google doesn't need to cater to the chinese business', it wants a strong grip hold on the chinese population as a consumer market, so they dominate the OS landscape and make it not very compatible with those who 'aren't with them', that way the country politically feels more pressure to accept the conglomerate, Google, which has pledged allegiance to the U.S.

Military.Don't think that everything is a free market, and that Google is your ally. They have an agenda, and we are just pawns in their game. We should focus on decentralizing technology and promoting diverse competition to ensure our future mutual safety.OUT OF PEACE, PEACE OUT.
